Safed's historic core is a fascinating area to explore, filled with ancient alleyways and a vibrant art scene, providing a glimpse into the city's historical and mystical past. You can wander down ancient winding, narrow cobblestone streets which are pedestrian-only, touch the stone walls of the Old City, and climb to the top of the Citadel- a vantage point of the entire city. On a clear day, from the Citadel it's possible to see as far as the Sea of Galilee.
