Milan Shoah Memorial Foundation / Memoriale Della Shoah Di Milano
Museum
The Shoah Memorial stands in the area below the tracks of Milan Central Station, where prisoners leaving the San Vittore prison were loaded onto cattle cars, bound for Auschwitz-Birkenau, Mauthausen, and other extermination and concentration camps, or to Italian detention camps such as Fossoli and Bolzano. An immersive museum where you can see and touch the wagons that brought so many Jews to their deaths.
The Milan Shoah Memorial provides a gripping depiction of the Holocaust by focusing on the victims of extermination. The museum represents a living, dialectical context in which to actively revisit the tragedy of the Shoah.
An excellent, well-prepared guide provided us with a better understanding of the brutality of which man is capable. I recommend listening to the video testimonies in the boxes behind the ticket office.
