New Orleans , Louisiana

Located in the heart of New Orleans' Arts District, the Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience tells the story of Jewish life in the American South over more than 300 years. Through engaging exhibits, personal stories, photographs, artifacts, and interactive displays, the museum explores how Jewish communities helped shape—and were shaped by—the unique culture of the South. Visitors discover the experiences of Jewish immigrants, merchants, civic leaders, military veterans, and families who built thriving communities across thirteen Southern states while preserving their Jewish traditions. The museum also examines themes of immigration, identity, religious freedom, civil rights, and cultural exchange, making it one of the most distinctive Jewish museums in the United States. The museum's galleries are thoughtfully designed and provide a deeper understanding of the rich and often overlooked history of Southern Jewry. Allow 1–2 hours to explore the permanent exhibitions and any special exhibits. Open six days a week (closed Tuesdays) from 10 am to 5 pm
